This class will be a three hour working session using the federal definition and State Guidelines for Specific Learning by Advertise"> by Advertise" target="_blank"> Disabilities to assist case managers in becoming more skilled in information gathering and interpretation of evaluation data. The format is case based facilitated discussion using interpretative and research resources to analyze evaluation information for determination of the need for special education services for students with learning disabilities.

Learning Objectives: *Teachers will participate in a collaborative work session to understand the process and practice of identifying Specific Learning Disabilities according to assessment results and the Individuals with Disabilities Act - IDEA Regulation 2004. *Teachers will identify how and when existing information can be gathered from parents, classroom teachers, and other staff currently working with the child. The participants will learn to compile and prioritize existing information for the student profile. *Teachers will work collaboratively in a group to analyze the evaluation packets they have brought to the class from their by Advertise"> by Advertise" target="_blank">home schools. Each group will present the findings of the evaluation data, including additional information needed, and the group will collaborate on the educational concerns that were identified based on the age and severity of the problem. The discussion will focus on the individual needs of the student; including interventions, classroom accommodations, and whether the evaluation results in the need for specialized instruction.

This class is offered as part of the inservice training on October 7, 2016.
