wonky log cabin quilt block workshop
Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM (CDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Saturday, August 31 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Beginning quilters are invited to learn how to piece modern "wonky log cabin" blocks from art and improv quilter, Betty Nowak! Spend the morning learning this piecing technique while designing and sewing two to three blocks for later use in quilts, placemats, pillows, or table runners. Betty will teach basic stitch-in-the-ditch quilting and some simple free-motion quilting skills as well.
Bring your own machine or sign up early to reserve one of four shop machines.
Students will need to purchase/provide four to six fat quarters for block tops, two solid fat quarters for free-motion quilting, neutral thread for block construction, contrasting thread for the free-motion quilting sample, and a small square of 14" by 14" batting. Those wishing to turn finished blocks into placemats, pillows, and other smaller projects may wish to purchase additional fabric, batting, and pillow forms as needed. All supplies are available at Sew Memphis at a 10% shop discount.
