Women's Rosh Chodesh Group
Monday, March 26, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (PDT)
Come join our Makom sisters as we welcome the new month and celebrate Rosh Chodesh Nisan. Rosh Chodesh is the Hebrew term for "New Moon", and this has traditionally been a woman's holiday, according to the Talmud. Nisan is the Hebrew month in which the Passover holiday occurs. In a relaxed, warm and joyful setting we will meditate, sing, chant, and explore the themes of the month of Nisan, which embody the experiences of freedom and liberation. We will give each other the support we need as we move out of restricted places in our own psyches, into more expansive states of being. Please feel free to bring a friend (or two!) and be prepared to experience the specialness of gathering in a sacred women's space.
This free event is open to all ! The meeting will take place in a private home. Please call for location and direction.
Makom Ohr Shalom
Makom Ohr Shalom is a diverse community committed to outreach and inclusiveness in prayer, Torah study and everything else we do. We honor Jewish traditions of meditation and spirituality by including silent meditation, guided visualization, chanting, and original music in our services, together with traditional prayers. Members engage in social justice work together, celebrate each others joyous milestones and support one another in times of sorrow. “Makom Ohr Shalom” means “a place for the light of peace.” Thus, the name of our synagogue reminds us of our best spiritual vision and aspiration.
