Thank you for this opportunity to introduce you to the Women Veterans of Colorado (WVOC), a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization based in Denver, Colorado. Our mission is to promote respect and recognition for the contributions of military women to our state and nation’s security. We connect Colorado women who have served or are serving in the United States Armed Forces for mutual support, inspiration and recognition.
On September 13, 2014, we will host our 4th Annual Conference at The Ramada Plaza, 10 East 120th Avenue, Northglenn, CO 80233. This year, we anticipate an attendance of over 300 women veterans. Our conference theme this year is “Paths to Self Sufficiency.” Our goal is to provide Colorado women veterans with information and a variety of opportunities assisting them on their own personal “Paths to Self-Sufficiency.”
Our 2014 keynote speaker will be Dana Louise Niemela, MSW. Dana is a veteran of the United States Navy and currently serves as the Denver City & County Human Services Coordinator for the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP). She has earned national recognition for her efforts in community building and coordinated service delivery for homeless veterans. In addition to her numerous other awards, she was recently honored as one of the White House Women Veterans Leaders, “Champions of Change,” in a ceremony at the White House in April 2014.
