Please join us for our first Lunch & Learn event of 2014! Women United will be adopting quality childcare as its signature issue, and we have invited Connie Bond Stuart, a 2013 IBJ Woman of Influence and chair of the Ready to Earn, Ready to Learn committee at United Way of Central Indiana, to help us kick things off.
Stuart is an Indiana native and IU graduate who began her career at PNC in Pittsburgh in 1980, as corporate banking relationship manager. She moved up the ranks at PNC, advancing to senior vice president in Washington D.C., then regional president in Delaware. She accepted a transfer to Indianapolis in 2012 where she now serves as regional president for Central & Southern Indiana. In addition to her work at PNC, Stuart serves on the boards of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, and is also chair of the Ready to Earn, Ready to Learn committee at United Way of Central Indiana.
As an organization, PNC strives to improve the community in areas such as economic development and early childhood education. This aligns well with Stuart's passions. While at PNC in Delaware, she helped develop a company initiative to improve preschool education, which was successful in gaining $168 million in government funding and grants. Stuart wants to make the same kind of impact in Central Indiana, and has connected with many local organizations who are making efforts to ensure that every child has a chance.
