Dr. Caine is active in several professional societies including: National Medical Association; National Association of County & City Health Officials; Fairbanks Institute (Life Sciences) Board of Directors; and Centers for Disease Control, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Editorial Board; and Indiana Health Information Exchange; to name a few.
She has served as a board member for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, National Advisory Committee for Common Ground and Leadership for Healthy Communities Advisory Board; Department of Health & Human Services Steering Committee for the Bright Futures for Women’s Health and Wellness Initiative; Centers for Disease Control & Prevention Elimination of Health Disparities through Translation Research Panel; Council on Education for Public Health Board; Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, National Advisory Committee for Common Ground: Transforming Public Health Information Systems.
Local board commitments include: Mental Health America of Greater Indianapolis Board of Directors; IU School of Nursing Advisory Board; Indianapolis Alliance for Health Promotion; Indianapolis Woman; Indiana Health Information Exchange, Inc.; Fairbanks Institute (Crossroads); and Indiana University Public Health Coordinating Council.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota and medical degree at New York Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. She received her Infectious Disease training at the University of Washington in Seattle.
