About the Keynote Speaker:
Kim Rivera joined DaVita HealthCare Partners in January 2010. She oversees the company’s legal, governance, internal audit and risk matters. Ms. Rivera has extensive experience in litigation, corporate law and compliance. She began her practice at Jones Day before taking on in-house roles at Rockwell and The Clorox Company.
Early in her career Ms. Rivera set a goal to be a public company general counsel and she began actively searching for mentors and role models to help guide her professional development. She realized very quickly that while there were women who had successfully accomplished this, there were only a precious few. It sparked what would become, for her, a major passion to promote women in the legal profession, particularly in general counsel and C-suite level roles.
Over the years, Ms. Rivera has been dedicated to raising awareness, speaking frequently on the topic of diversity, and working to increase opportunity for women and minorities through: the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, the California Minority Counsel Program, the American Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel. She has actively mentored women and men seeking to advance in the “in-house” world, as well as those in private practice. She has been recognized for her commitment, effort and achievements by Chambers and Partners, the Southern California Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, and The Mexican American Bar Foundation. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Duke University.
This is a free event. Space is limited. Please RSVP by Friday, October 18, 2013
