Women are Perfect Art Exhibit Opening with Jessica Sabogal
“Women Are Perfect” pushes for peace, and captures the simple, radical notion that we, as women, own our bodies – all of it, from what we think, what we do with them, where we lay them down, where we walk, how we dress, to what nourishment (material and immaterial) we put inside them. This exhibition explores the fact that we, as women, are everything we need. We are literally places of birth, as womb, and this world could not continue, could not generate, could not go on without us and our bodies.
LIVE Performance with AJAYU!
AJAYU is a seven piece band that plays Andean fusion music with strong instrumentation and socially, culturally, and politically conscious lyrics. The countries represented by the members are Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, and Mexico. Instrumentation includes quena and zampoñas (flutes), charango (small guitar from Bolivia), guitar, bass, violin, and bombo (large drum from Ecuador). The music is rooted in the indigenous cultures of the Andes, however the original compositions provide an international and modern twist.
