About Michaela Rodeno
Michaela Rodeno’s serendipitous career in the wine business spans an exciting period of growth and change in the Napa Valley. Her ability to speak French led to a unique opportunity with the first French wine venture in the U.S. in 1973 when Moët-Hennessy chose to invest in the Napa Valley; she spent the latter half of her tenure there as vice president of marketing. Then in 1988 she was invited to be the first CEO of St. Supéry. She was instrumental in nurturing both wineries from inception to financial success, making use of her ability to develop winning strategies; select, motivate and lead top-performing teams; manage vertically integrated operations from agricultural production through marketing to sales in distribution channels and direct to consumers; build strong brands; and weather the inevitable boom and bust cycles in a long term business.
As one of few female CEOs in the U.S. wine industry, and recognized for her industry leadership and business acumen, she was a natural choice when Silicon Valley Bank sought a director in 2001 to represent its fast growing premium wine practice. She served on SVB's Audit/Finance and Directors Loan committees, and for seven years chaired the Compensation committee. She currently serves on the boards of Bank of Marin, Wine Market Council (marketing and research), and Visit Napa Valley (destination marketing). Two advisory boards, Round Pond Estate and tech start up Wine Harmony, are also on her agenda.
From Bubbles to Boardrooms (www.amzn.to/16eT6Xv) is an entertaining, educational, two-volume business memoir based on Michaela’s exceptional career in the wine business in Napa Valley. Often funny, the stories in From Bubbles to Boardrooms are a primer for entrepreneurs in any business, offer an insider’s view of a rapidly evolving Napa Valley, and provide inspiration for tomorrow’s entrepreneurs and leaders. Today she’s come full circle to relaunch the tiny family winery, Villa Ragazzi, best known for its Rodeno clone Sangiovese.
