Event Details

Beyond contributing to educational institutions, historians have a role to play in national parks, the entertainment industry, military policy, and many other aspects of contemporary society. Offering a wide-ranging look at history in the public realm, panelists include Mellissa Betts, Vice President of Genealogica and producer of Who Do You Think You Are?, Lt. Col. Mike Richardson of the Naval Postgraduate School, and Ann Huston, Chief of Cultural Resources, Channel Islands National Park. Moderated by Stephen Aron, Professor of History, UCLA, and the Autry Institute’s Chair of Western History, this discussion is part of the UCLA History Department’s Why History Matters series.
