Calling all kids and families to join us for a fun volunteer project at the Animal Care League, a non-profit animal shelter in neighboring Oak Park. Below, please find a volunteer job description and a list of items that may be helpful to bring on the day of the project. It's our goal to make your experience fun, uplifting, and kid-friendly. This is an opportunity for customers, team members, and kids to partner together in service to our community.
Also, well have a magical build-your-own salad-bar for kids and grown-ups, plus all the fixings. Join us in modeling the fun of "eatin a rainbow" in honor of the Whole Kids Foundation! Please join us for a fun-filled day of service and inspiration as we celebrate healthy communities and healthy eating together!
Marketing and Community Relations Specialist
“Kitty Go Home”: Fill individual bags of litter. Add a toy, cat treats and a litter scoop to each new litter box and it’s a “Kitty Go Home” kit that’s ready for an adopter and their new feline friend.
B.A.R.K: Help spruce up the exterior of the shelter by weeding, cleaning and removing debris and readying it for pick up. We’ll then spread bark mulch.
“Nose” Detective: Nose prints are as unique to each animal as a person’s fingerprints. Be a nose print detective and search for nose prints (and paw prints) on the windows and clean them off. Exterior windows need cleaning from people prints and the weather.
“RUFF” job: Volunteers will sweep the exterior pavement in front and rear of shelter and pull any pesky weeds.
“Bunny Hunt”: “Dust Bunnies” have moved in so we need a thorough dusting of all those hard to reach places.
“How Much is That Doggie in the Window”: The ACL shelter store features pet supplies. Have some sticker fun and price merchandise to ready it for sale. Clean and arrange merchandise.
