Event Details

Calling all Kids and Families! Join participants from Whole Foods Market, the Hammer Museum, and Mattel Hospital in a day of creativity and fun benefiting the young patients at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA.

This event is part of a day of art-making at the Hammer’s 3rd Annual Family Day. Inspired by architect A. Quincy Jones’s versatile professional practice, the third annual Family Day at the Hammer will focus on architecture to explore spatial and critical thinking. Using a hands-on workshop approach, young people will learn about scale, structure, material, form, and light, housing and the urban landscape of Los Angeles, all through artist and architect-led activities. From individual projects to large communal building projects, this year’s Family Day invites kids, parents, and friends to experience architecture in new, exciting ways!

One of the art projects, designed by a renowned local architect, will incorporate artwork created by the kids. This finished piece will be installed at the Mattel’s Children Hospital at UCLA, and the pediatric patients will be able to create their own pieces that will be added to the installation over time – this permanent installation is a co-venture between WFM Westwood and the Hammer Museum.

Check back here for further details as we get closer to the big day, or contact me directly for more information.
