Event Details

Bob Schieffer, Jim Lehrer and Marianne Means Highlight Kennedy Event

Where were you when Kennedy was shot? Anyone over the age of 60 can tell you exactly what he or she was doing at the moment the news broke.

It was the seminal breaking news story between the attack on Pearl Harbor and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. It's an event that has captured the imagination of Americans of all ages.

To mark the assassination's 50th anniversary, the National Press Club is bringing together three journalists who were in Dallas that day.

Jim Lehrer, who went on to become the anchor of PBS' NewsHour, was a reporter for the Dallas Times Herald, the city's afternoon newspaper, writing on deadline as Kennedy arrived at the airport.

Marianne Means was the White House correspondent for the Hearst News Service and the only female reporter traveling in the president's motorcade when the shots rang out.

CBS senior Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer was a young reporter with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and tells an amazing story of how he was caught up in the events of the day.
