Welcome to the news that there will be Jelly running in Weddon Cross, Cutcombe as part of a wider I.T. Clinic event for businesses and homeworkers on Wednesday 10th November at Moorland Hall.
Jelly is a grassroots movement that has been spreading across the UK as a new way of working – and now it’s reached Exmoor!
If you’re a homebased freelancer, digital nomad or small business, it’d be great if you could join us! There’s no need to book, as you can just drop in, but if you do wish to sign up it will help us have an idea of numbers – just register your ticket above.
(The I.T. Clinic is a FREE event for small businesses to learn how latest, affordable technologies & new ways of working can benefit them. The drop-in event, organised by Cosmic Ethical IT in conjunction with Devon County Council & Connecting Somerset, will inspire and encourage small businesses to harness the potential that new technology has to offer. )
Jelly is a FREE informal casual work event for homebased & mobile workers to come together to work, socialise and exchange ideas. Come & join us, just turn up with some work & join in. See more about Jelly here: http://www.workatjelly.com/
Working from home or on the road is great, but can be isolating. Jelly gives you an opportunity to exchange your own four walls for a different working environment, gives you company for the day and allows you to ask advice and exchange ideas with others. There’s a good description here of the benefits of Jelly, courtesy of Jan Minihane who runs Shropshire Jelly: http://bit.ly/9zL25g
Jelly can take place anywhere – this one’s in a village hall! It is also very well suited to purpose-built workspaces with internet access and multiple, well-placed powerpoints. It is a good introduction to coworking – the idea of coming together in a shared space to work on your own projects with the benefit of meeting others.

You can chat, enjoy the company of interesting new people, exchange ideas etc. - or get down to some actual work ;-). There's no enforced chat or embarrassing ice-breakers and definitely no sales pitches! If you do want to bring headphones and work in your own little world, that's fine too. Of course, most people attend because they miss that bit of office interaction when working at home alone.
At this event, there is also a free Laptop Clinic where you can get help with your IT niggles from one of Cosmic’s Digital Mentors – book your slot for that at: http://itclinic3.eventbrite.com
How do I join?
You can just turn up and drop in at any point during the event which runs from 1:00pm – 7:00pm. Stay as long as is useful and, as it is a work environment, you are welcome to take phone calls. If you can book a place, it will help us know what numbers to expect.
We look forward to meeting you!
