Event Details

The Wheaton College Department of Biblical and Theological Studies is excited to present its first annual History of Christianity Graduate Student Conference on October 12, 2013. Everyone is invited to attend as Wheaton students will be presenting some of their finest research among their peers and faculty. We are also honored to announce that the keynote speaker will be our very own Dr. Jeffrey Bingham, who will present his current research. Topics of the sessions will be arranged chronologically from the early church and early medieval Christian history to the Reformation and Modern Christianity. Schedules, food, drinks, and coffee will be provided for the Wheaton College community as well as non-Wheaton College community guests who register for the event.

Our keynote speaker, Dr. Jeffrey Bingham, received his Th.M. and Ph.D. from Dallas Theological Seminary and is the new Associate Dean of the Biblical and Theological Studies Department at Wheaton College. His research interests revolve around the early church, Irenaeus of Lyons, and early Christian interpretation of Scripture. The title of Dr. Bingham's talk will be, "Reading Martyrdom: Intertextuality in the Letter from Vienne and Lyons."

If you have any questions, please call Dr. Jennifer McNutt at 630.752.5331

The Wheaton College Department of Biblical and Theological Studies

The Department of Biblical and Theological Studies is Wheaton College’s largest academic department, offering two undergraduate majors, five M.A. degrees and a Ph.D. in Biblical and Theological Studies. In addition, we provide general education courses for all Wheaton undergraduates, as well as a range of theological courses for graduate students that focus on relating biblical faith to their chosen academic fields. In these ways we offer biblical and theological grounding for every student at Wheaton, in keeping with the College’s historic vision of learning “for Christ and His Kingdom."
