The Center for Collaborative Change, in partnership with the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice, the Newark Police Department and LISC of Greater Newark, invites you to our first What Works Summit: (Re)Building Community Trust Between Community and Police.
This event will convene national experts, law enforcement, community leaders and researchers to develop a compilation of proven and promising strategies that civic leaders to answer the question, “What works to rebuild trust between communities and the police who serve them?”
The Center for Collaborative Change conducted extensive survey research over the past several years and found that despite a period of unprecedented crime reduction, significant mistrust between Newark residents and their police force. The goal of the 2013 What Works Summit is to identify best practices for police-community relations that can be used in Newark and to set in motion collaborative efforts to implement them.
Please join us on January 23, 2013 for a day-long program featuring keynote Speaker Connie Rice, Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio, David Kennedy, and other Newark community leaders.
Also join us seperate evening cocktail reception with several of the day’s speakers, We look forward to collaborating with you to strengthen the relationship between police and the communities they serve, and to improve safety and community well-being by doing What Works.
