Bernadette Birt is Executive Director of the Wharton MBA Program for Executives, West, and Chief Operating Officer of Wharton | San Francisco. She has been with the program since September 2010. Prior to joining Wharton, Bernadette spent 20 years at Northwestern University, 16 of those years with the Kellogg School Executive MBA Program. Bernadette’s role grew with EMBA domestic and joint program expansion and encompassed responsibilities for admissions, operations, student affairs, budget & finance, and alumni affairs. Bernadette’s most recent position at Kellogg was Director, Domestic Executive MBA Programs. Bernadette graduated from Northwestern University with a BS in General Studies and a major in Organization Behavior and did graduate coursework in Learning and Organizational Change through the School of Education & Social Policy at Northwestern University. She is based in San Francisco.
Prof. Claudia Roehl, Program Director for Intensive MBA, University of San Francisco. Claudia Roehl teaches accounting and other business related topics. She is a professional with 10 years of experience in credit analysis, debt securities trading and public accounting, leveraging economic and accounting studies with knowledge of financial investment instruments. Her particular strength is in structured finance, including collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs) and asset-backed securities (ABS).
Eric Abrams is the Director of Diversity Initiatives at Haas School of Business University of California, Berkeley. Born in Berkeley, Abrams spent his childhood in the Bay Area and Chicago before matriculating at Stanford, where he majored in political science and drama. As a graduate student at UCLA, Abrams studied political science, as well as being elected Secretary of the Black Graduate Student Association. Shortly thereafter, he began his career in admission at the University of Southern California. He has also worked in either undergraduate or professional school admission at Pitzer College, Stanford, Berkeley Law, and Carnegie Mellon. Before joining the Haas family in January, he served as Assistant Dean for Diversity Outreach in Stanford’s Office of Undergraduate Admission. In this role, he supervised a team of professionals charged with enhancing the diversity of the Stanford undergraduate population.
He met his wife, Donna, when she was a third-year student in the joint MBA-MPH program at Haas; they live in Oakland with their two teenage sons. Eric is a motorcyclist, sports fan, and an avid barbecue pitmaster.
Ms. Leah Edwards is the Associate Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She is in charge of the Entrepreneurial Curriculum for the Center and coordinates the relevant courses of 35 faculty members.
Prior to joining the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Leah has spent 20 years as a management consultant and entrepreneur, helping to launch or grow businesses, product lines, professional services and nonprofit programs. She has strengths in business plan development, marketing strategy, online marketing and organizational development.
Leah was co-founder of Overstat, an online analytics and conversion rate optimization SaaS. As the member of the founding team of Post Communications, she was instrumental in obtaining VC backing, selling to first clients, designing the technology, developing clients’ marketing strategies, and growing the company’s staff to 50 in two years when it was sold to Netcentives for $380 million.
She has also consulted with the Kaufman Fellows Program, Lehigh University’s Center for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation, as well as UC Davis’ Center for Entrepreneurship.
Leah holds an MBA and Certificate of Public Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
Linda S. Oubre is Dean of the College of Business at San Francisco State University. Prior to her appointment in July 2012, she served as Executive Director of Corporate Relations and Business Development and Chief Diversity Officer for the UC Davis Graduate School of Management.
Additionally, Linda has more than two decades of corporate development and operating experience. Oubre was Co-founder, Director, and President-COO of BriteSmile, Inc., responsible for the launch and on-going management of the world’s first “one-hour teeth whitening spas.” Before the founding of BriteSmile, she served as President of Tri Com Ventures where she specialized in new venture planning and start-ups. Linda was General Manager of new Business Development for the Los Angeles Times, Director of Operations for Walt Disney Publishing, and Manager of Planning for both the Times Mirror Company and Walt Disney’s Consumer Products.
Linda has extensive teaching experience having served as the Executive-in-Residence and Adjunct Professor at UC Davis GSM. She has been a visiting instructor in the entrepreneurship program at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a guest instructor at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and taught courses in Leadership and Corporate Strategy at San Diego State University’s College of Business. Linda also served in a post-graduate appointment as Assistant Director of MBA Admissions at the Harvard Business School.
A native of Los Angeles, and a first-generation college graduate, Linda earned her BA, cum laude, in Economics from UCLA in 1980, and her MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1984.
John Veitch is the Associate Dean for MBA, University of San Francisco. Prof. Veitch has been a faculty member at the University of San Francisco since 1992. He has been a visiting faculty member in the business schools at UC Berkeley and UC Irvine. Prof. Veitch is the Director of Education for the CFA Society of San Francisco.
