This interactive, bipartisan discussion will feature insights from two of the University's foremost experts working at the intersection of business, health care and public policy: Professor Zeke Emanuel and Professor Dan Polsky. Zeke Emanuel is the Diane v.S. Levy and Robert M. Levy University Professor, Professor of Health Care Management at the Wharton School, and Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy in the Perelman School of Medicine. From January 2009 to January 2011, prior to joining Penn, he served in the Obama administration as special adviser for health policy to the director of the White House Office of Management and Budget. Dan Polsky is a Professor of Medicine in the Perelman School of Medicine and the Robert D. Eilers Professor of Health Care Management in the Wharton School, as well as Executive Director of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. He currently serves on the Congressional Budget Office's Panel of Health Advisers, and in 2007-08, during the final years of George W. Bush's presidency, he was the Senior Economist on health issues at the President's Council of Economic Advisers. The session will highlight the kind of comprehensive, interdisciplinary, knowledge-driven, and timely thinking that defines the mission of the newly launched Penn Wharton Public Policy Initiative.
