WE ARE THE NIGHT is a sexy, savvy and adrenaline-pumping thriller about a young woman who is initiated into a trio of beautiful female vampires. Soon to have its U.S. premiere at the Seattle Film Festival, this smartly entertaining alternative to the summer-blockbuster blues makes its NYC theatrical premiere with a week long run, May 27 - June 2.
Scruffy 20-year-old Berlin native Lena (Karoline Herfurth, THE READER) gets by as a petty thief. On one of her nightly job runs through an underground club, she meets 250-year-old Louise (Nina Hoss, YELLA), the glamorous owner of the joint and leader of an unusual all-female vampire trinity, which includes wild child Nora (Anna Fischer) and elegant Charlotte (Jennifer Ulrich). Louise falls head over heels in love with Lena and bites her during their first night together, introducing her to the curse and blessing of eternal life. Now reveling in the glamour, parties and infinite freedom, Lena discovers that the endless blood thirst and murderous appetite of her new girlfriends comes at a steeper price than she expected.

Also opening at reRun is Dennis Gansel's edgy Sundance drama THE WAVE, based on Morton Rhue's classic youth novel about a frighteningly real experiment conducted by a California history teacher in 1967. To explain to his students how totalitarian governments work, a German high-school instructor (Jürgen Vogel, THE FREE WILL) initiates a role-playing game with tragic results. Within a few days, what began with harmless notions like discipline and community erupts into violence at an intramural water polo game. When the teacher tries to end the experiment, he discovers it's too late and out of control...
