Water Quality Monitoring Information
Note: We will be working at different sites on Stevens Creek which are several miles apart. While we encourage carpooling, you are responsible for your own transportation, whether in your own car or that of another volunteer.
Who: Volunteers of all ages are welcome; minors under 18 require a signed waiver and children under 12 require an accompanying adult.
What: Starting with McClellan Ranch we will visit nine sites on Stevens and Permanente Creeks to gather data on pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, specific conductance and turbidity. You are responsible for arranging for your own transportation. We generally finish with the upper watershed by about 11:00 and the lower watershed by 1:00 or so. No experience is needed; we will train you. Come enjoy and learn about these beautiful creeks while you collect data to protect their health.
When: Sunday, June 22, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Please arrive on time as we will leave McClellan Ranch when we finish monitoring there at about 9:15 and carpool to the other sites on Stevens and Permanente Creeks.
Where: Meet at McClellan Ranch Preserve, 22221 McClellan Road in Cupertino
Please bring: A reusable water bottle. You will not be getting into the creek, but it is best to wear comfy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
Minors under 18 must bring a waiver form signed by a parent.
