Please join us for a very special Washington Education Innovation Forum.
The University of Washington’s Center on Reinventing Public Education, Computer Science and Engineering, and College of Education, along with Washington STEM, are delighted to host Hadi Partovi, co-founder of the computer education nonprofit Code.org, and Washington State Representative Reuven Carlyle for a discussion focused on innovative new ways to teach students about coding and computer science.
In December 2013, more than 20 million students across the globe participated in Code.org’s Hour of Code. This event allowed students to try their hand at coding through easy to follow tutorials. The Hour of Code also prompted educator and policymaker discussion about how to provide students with greater access to computer science education. Please join us to hear Partovi’s story of the Hour of Code, what kind of momentum it has generated globally, and what parents, educators, and policy makers here in Washington State can do to prepare our students for Science, Technology, Math, and Engineering (STEM) jobs. Rep. Carlyle will facilitate a conversation with Partovi and local computer science students.
If you are unable to join us in person, you can watch a live stream of the event beginning at 7pm PDT.
