Check Facebook: Warrior Fitness Games for Event Promos!
The inaugural Warrior Fitness Games hosted by the Army ROTC at the University of Illinois is a functional fitness event with military-style movements. The Warrior Fitness Games will be a 4-person team event with same sex and co-ed categories. The event will be split into 4 heats. Each heat will have different excercises and increasingly difficult routines. Teams will have a minimum of two, and up to four, opportunities to qualify for advancement into the final face-off event to become UIUC's Fittest Warriors. Keep an eye out for "teaser" videos that will preview some of the excercises or routines. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education.
Team cancellations will be issued a refund up to two weeks prior to the event. No refunds will be offered after April 19th, 2014. Team substitutions may be made at the packet pick-up/registration table only. Group managers must be present in order to make substitutions at the event. Team participants may pick up their packets individually or as a team starting at 6am on May 3rd at the west side of Huff Hall Field just off Fourth Street. College students may register for $80 per team (registration will show as $20/individual) and Champaign-Urbana residents may register for $100 per team (registration will show as $25/individual).
Please be sure to bring a picture ID when picking up your packet or team packets. Those registered under the "College Student" category will be asked to present their i-Card at packet pick-up. Registrations are limited by type, so if your type is "sold-out" when you try to register, put your name on the waitlist and look for the "Open Enrollment" registration on March 15th.
On March 15th anyone signed up on the waitlist may register for the event. This price will show as $100/team ($25/person ) but University students may still register at the $80/team price. A coupon code will be posted once this registration type opens. Each team member's individual registration must be through the group's website either by the individual or the team organizer.
There will be on-site medical teams for the duration of the competition to assist with any competitor emergencies. Ice water and sports drinks will be available free of charge for competitors between each of the four heats. There will also be concessions on-site where competitors or spectators can purchase energy gels, fruits and other food and beverage items.
Limited free parking may be available in lot E-12 adjacent to Huff Hall Field and is first-come-first-served, so carpooling is highly recommended. There are metered spaces throughout campus that are typically available on weekends. For more information on available parking please visit the University Parking website.
Spectators are welcome and highly encouraged, so feel free to bring your own cheering section! Spectators will also have the chance to "Throw Down" the gauntlet to win prizes in shorter, easier versions of the excercises their competitor is completing.
When & Where
Fighting Illini Army ROTC
The Fighting Illini Army ROTC program, Central Illinois Recruiting Station and the Illinois National Guard will be hosting this event. The Fighting Illini Army ROTC has been producing US Military Officers since 1868. As a land-grant University, UIUC was required to host "military training" for all male students on campus. Participation in ROTC has since become voluntary, but UIUC continues to produce top-notch Officers for all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. In the Fall of 2013, the Army ROTC Fighting Illini Battalion raised over $3000 for the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education by hosting the "Dad's Day 5K". We hope to repeat that effort with the Warrior Fitness Games in the Spring of 2014.
