San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
You are invited to attend
An evening of carousing, karaoke and craft brew tasting to benefit The Wandering Scholar's Global Skills Fellowship program! Come celebrate the spirit and wonder of travel with The Wandering Scholar at The Bronx Beer Hall.
When: Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Where: The Bronx Beer Hall
Why you'll love it: The brothers behind The Bronx Beer Hall have generously offered their brand new bar at the historic Arthur Avenue Retail Market. You've already read about this place in the NY Times, Time Out, NY Daily News and Zagat and probably thought to yourself, "I should check that out!" Well here's your chance to make good on that plan while doing good at the same time.
Enjoy Bronx-brewed local beers, sample the food of Chef David Greco (famous for beating Bobby Flay at his own game on the Food Network's Throwdown), and support The Wandering Scholar's mission of making international travel opportunities accessible to high-school students from low-income backgrounds.
Getting There: Put on your weekend wandering gear and fire up your favorite NYC navigation app! The Wandering Scholar has found that the two easiest ways to get to The Bronx Beer Hall from other points in NYC are to either:
- Hop on the Metro North Harlem line from Grand Central to Fordham Road and walk for another 10-15 minutes until you get to the market
- Split a cab or car with your fellow wanderers (Have you tried Uber?)
8:00 p.m. Arrival
Get here before the kitchen closes at 9:00 p.m. to sample the creative cuisine of Chef David Greco. Or come earlier to explore the nearby Bronx Botanical Garden and eat at one of the many famous restaurants along Arthur Avenue, NY's real Little Italy.
9:00 p.m. Tales of Wanderlust
We've all been there, lost in transit or translation. Share your most harrowing, embarrassing, and inspiring travel stories for a chance to win door prizes.
10:00 p.m. Wander Tunes
There's a wandering minstrel inside of each and every one of us. From Rambling Man to Ramble On...the theme of the night will be tunes to travel to. Sing your favorite wanderlust-inspiring song for a chance to win door prizes. Suggested donation $5 dollars.
Benefit: All proceeds from the event will go directly to funding The Wandering Scholar's 2013 fellowship program, which provides educational and financial resources to low-income high school students so that they may participate in international education programs.
