What is Wanderlust 108?

Wanderlust 108 is a triathlon unlike any you’ve ever known. This “mindful triathlon” brings three events together in your favorite local park: a 5k run, an outdoor yoga experience, and a guided meditation -- but with a twist. Unlike most triathlons, we place community above competition, inner peace above power, and self-awareness above strength. We prefer slow food to fast run times. For us, winning is measured in laughs shared and new friends made.

And unlike many events offering yoga and meditation, we combine our practice with a whole lot of fun. While we’re pretty sure you’ll be challenged during the day, we are equally sure you’ll have a great time doing so. From live bands and DJs on our main stage, to lawn activities like hooping, slacklining and acroyoga, to our local food and craft vendors, there’s a lot to do when you’re not on your mat.

THE WANDERLUST 108 EXPERIENCE

RUN

Lace up your running shoes and hit the pavement with your fellow Wanderlusters. Our course, which is more or less 5k in length, is carefully selected to finish where it starts -- something which we encourage you to contemplate during meditation. We’ll provide a timer at the start and finish line, but you’re the only one who will be keeping track. No bragging, please. Only smiles.

YOGA

Whether you’re an experienced yogi or are brand new to practice, we’ve got you covered. The 60-minute class at Wanderlust 108 is led by a duo of experienced teachers, and features live music and other surprises. Remember to bring your mat (unless you want to taste grass during chatarunga).

MEDITATION

For many of you, meditation may be the aspect of Wanderlust 108 that you’re least familiar with. That’s OK -- it’s (deceptively) simple. Meditation is an ancient technique to bring your mind under greater voluntary control. More recently, studies have shown that meditation can treat stress, worry, addiction and lead to happier relationships, which is a great reason to try it out. This segment lasts about 30 minutes, but after some instruction and an inspiring lecture, you’ll only spend about 15 minutes in silent meditation. Everyone can sit still for 15 minutes, right?

LIVE PERFORMANCES, CRAFT VENDORS & MORE

Live Music

Throughout the day, you’ll be treated to an eclectic group of amazing musical performers, from DJs to yoga-inspired MCs, from brass bands to ambient acoustic bass. Music is the beating heart of our festivals, and we wouldn’t have it any other way for Wanderlust 108.

Local Foods & Craft Vendors

All that running, down-dogging and mind-clearing is bound to make you hungry, so we’ve hooked up with the best local food trucks and vendors in each city, with a focus on the freshest and healthiest fare. We’ve also curated some of the best urban makers and crafters, purveyors of fine apparel, jewelry, accessories, yoga and athletic equipment and much more. You can treat your taste buds and grab some new duds, all while supporting small businesses in your home town.

Hooping, Slacklining & Lawn Games

If you find yourself with downtime or simply need a spot to chill out, head to the Uncommons, a common ground where you can hang any time of the day. The Uncommons is the place to OM in the grass, slackline in the sun, acro-jam with old friends, or meet new ones.

Why 108?

You’re likely wondering: why 108? In many Eastern traditions, the number 108 signifies the interconnection between body, mind, and the universe. For us, one represents unity (we are one, after all), zero represents stillness or calmness, and eight, with its resemblance to the infinity symbol, represents infinite possibility. It may sound like heady stuff, but by pushing your body, calming your mind, and connecting with others, you will eventually find yourself open to your full possibility. It won’t happen in a day, of course, but in the meantime, we can promise you’ll have wonderful day that’s more than a walk in the park.
