UPDATE (Sunday, June 24. 1:55pm)
Good news! The weather forecast for Sunday looks like it will be a beautiful evening for Shakespeare! This e-mail is to confirm that WAMU 88.5 and Lean & Hungry Theater will present “Much Ado About Nothing” outside at American University’s Woods-Brown Amphitheater, 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW.
Complimentary parking is available at any of the on-campus garages. The nearest one to the amphitheater is underneath the Katzen Arts Center, located on Massachusetts Avenue NW across from the main campus. When you arrive at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue NW and Glover Gate, turn into the Katzen parking garage, park, and then walk out the main level. Cross over Massachusetts Avenue (there is a light), and then continue walking through campus. You will find directional signs for the Amphitheater. A campus map can be found at: http://www.american.edu/aumaps/.
Bring a blanket and a small picnic and enjoy Shakespeare in the outdoors! All seating in the amphitheater is lawn seating.
On Sunday, June 24, WAMU 88.5 and Washington, D.C.'s only radio drama company, Lean & Hungry Theater, will present a special live-to-air broadcast of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" at American University's Woods-Brown Amphitheater.
The one-hour radio production will be performed in front of a live audience and broadcast live on WAMU 88.5 from 6 to 7pm. The company uses live sound effects and original music to create a contemporary interpretation.
Join us on a trip back to the 1940's with William Shakespeare's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. Beatrice and Benedick's flirtatious battle of wits is set against the backdrop of soldiers returning home to New York City...swing was the thing, hep cats cut a rug, and cupid's tricks made merriment for all.
Bring a picnic and see how Shakespeare is turned into "a radio play" that anyone can understand - from kids to seniors.
