This Walking with Whitney class is a baby wellness, parent education, and infant gross motor class. This a mommy and me class which is geared for babies 4 to 6 months old (click here for birth to 3 month class). In this class we will focus on teaching caregivers how to therapeutically play with their infant to promote gross motor skills. Go beyond the checklists and learn about the developmental sequence and how to play with your baby to enhance their natural development. This class will go into detail about simple, everyday activities you can do during playtime and diaper changes to promote your baby’s strength, visual-motor skills, and age appropriate gross motor skills. We will practice playing with your baby to work on specific skills such as rolling, tummy time, and sitting. We will begin to discuss how to help your baby transition into and out of sitting. We will not only discuss how to promote happy time but also talk about how to advance your baby’s tummy time skills helping them to reach and pivot while on their tummies. In addition to playtime, we will also explore and discuss proper positioning in equipment such as bouncy seats and swings as well as appropriate toy recommendations for each age group. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new parents, ask questions about development in a supportive environment, and enhance your knowledge of infant development. Please join us for a class to learn how to better play with your infant!
