WALK WITH ME. A global forum launched from and based in Jerusalem, creating a new narrative for the voice of Victims of Terrorism.
WALK WITH ME, will be convened between March 1- 4, 2015, in the Konrad Adenauer Conference Centre in Mishkenot Sha’ananim, Jerusalem. It will feature three days of international participation of both lectures by specialists, Victims of Terrorism from several nations, local survivors and guests wanting to learn how to best support victims and be active advocates in their community and region for them.
WALK WITH ME: Lectures by specialists include:
Mr. Khaled Abu Toameh, Israel: Arab - Israeli Journalist. Recipient of 2014 Daniel Pearl Award. Title of lecture, " Is there a chance for Peace in the Middle East?"
Mr. Robert Campbell, Northern Ireland: Co-Founder/Managing Director of the Ulster Human Rights Watch. Title of lecture: " Introduction to the work of the Ulster Human Rights Watch".
Mr. Michael Fryer, Wales: A retired UK National Crime Squad Detective.Founder/ Director of Christians for Zion. He is a Graduate of Holocaust Studies at Yad V'Shem and as such helps to motivate Christians in active advocacy for Israel and against the prevelance of anti-Semitism within the Christian Church. Title of lecture: " The continuous thread within Global Terror".
Mr. Michael Gallagher, Northern Ireland: Founder/President of Omagh Support and Self-Help Group, founded in the aftermath of the Omagh Bombing August 1988. Title of speech "The Importance of the Voice of the Victim".
Mr. Gavriel Meirone, Israel: Founder/Presidenet of MM-LAW, LLC, a law firm dedicated to advancing private human rights law by representation of victims of terrorism, crimes against humanity and genocide in private law suits to force accountability upon the financiers,aides and abettors of the perpetrators of such crimes. Title of lecture: "The Funding of Global Terrorism and the legal methods of enforcing compensation for the Victims of Terrorism".
Mr. Laurence Malone, USA: Former naval aviator who flew the A-6 Intruder during the Vietman War, and served aboard the USS Enterprise, and USS America during the 1970's. Title of lecture: "When trauma wounds the soul. How can the suffering, wounded soul received healing and hope?"
Rev. John Mosey, England: Father of Helga, one of the 270 victims of the Lockerbie Air Disaster or December 1988. Former Chairman of the Lockerbie Support Group, UK Families Flight 103.Title of lecture:" Where is God when disaster strikes?Lockerbie, the Pain and the Pardon".
Mr. Arnold Roth, Israel: A Jerusalem attorney and technology business manager. He serves as Honorary Chair of the Malki Foundation, which he and his wife, Frimet established in 2001.Its work honours the memory of their daughter Malki who was murdered in a terrorist attack in the Sbarro Pizza restaurant in downtown Jerusalem. Title of lecture: " Out of the Screaming Silence:Everyone is in the cross-hairs of the terrorists' weapons, so what should be the expectations from community and leaders in an age of terrorism?"
Mr. Axel Schmidt, LLB,LLM ( Hons), DSSSL, Group ESCP, Nothern Ireland. Founder of Schmidt Consulting which provides advice in the field of human rights law to private organisations, public authorities and assistance in legal proceedings between domestic courts and the European Court of Human Rights. He is Co-Founder of the Ulster Human Rights Watch. Title of lecture:" Justice, Truth and Acknowledgment for Victims of Terrorism in Northern Ireland; Myth or Reality?"
Dr. Terry S. Smith, USA. Founder/President of Coaching: Life Matters. Dr. Smith holds a Masters in Counseling, a Masters in Theology and a Doctorate in Personality, Religion and Culture. As one of the earliest Life Coachers, he has listened to over ten thousand life stories and helped people suffering from PTSD. Title of lecture, " The Power of Understanding your Story: Finding healing for trauma through life drawings"
Canon Andrew White, the Vicar of Baghdad.Hon PhD, Iraq.The Vicar of St. George's Church in Baghdad, the only Anglican church in Iraq. He is also the President of the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East. He takes an active role in conflict resolution , mediation and the re-establishment of dialogue between religious groups such as Shia and Sunni leaders. He has been hijacked, kidnapped, locked up in rooms with body parts, and held at gunpoint. Title of lecture, "Faith under Fire, Searching for Hope".
Mr. Bo Persson, Swedish Documentary Filmmaker will screen the Israeli premiere of his latest film, "Watching the Moon at Night, of anti-Semitism and Terrorism", considered by Dr Michael Berenbaum to be " intellectually informative and visually brilliant".
Mr. Pierre Rehov, French- Israeli Documentary Filmmaker will screen " Suicide Killers" with new material as yet unscreened which includes footage from Gaza 2014.
Mrs Inbal Gershkovits, Singer, Songwriter, Composer . She has performed in Israel and extensively around the world sharing her gift of song. She has performed at many prestigious occassions such as at the President's residence, the opening of the Ben Gurion Airport, the Jewish Media Conference, Keren Ha Yesod Fund, The Jewish Agency, Birthright and many others.
Mr. Yossi Alfi. Israeli storyteller, Author, Director. He is the Founder/Artistic Director of the annual Israeli International Storytelling Festival, a high profile event which draws a large Israeli audience for the past twenty plus years.
WALK WITH ME, will then be taken to the nations from 2016. There is a recognition that not every nation or Victim of Terrorism can come to Israel due to diplomatic issues. . Each year, a different nation will be used as the platform to host the conference. WALK WITH ME, will go to England in 2016 , where the focus will indeed be upon the issues of terrorism within Great Britain.
