Walk for Water - A Few Steps To A Big Difference
Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM (PDT)
After living in Ghana for 3 months, three kids could not forget the things they saw. The image of women and children walking everyday for water was forever in their memories. Touched by the fact that after a long journey the end result was unclean water, they were even more haunted. They came up with the idea of "Walk for Water".
Come join us and "Walk A Mile" in their shoes. Challenge yourself to see if you can walk the entire 5K with a five gallon bucket full of water just like them. You might even want to do it Ghanaian style on your head!
Check-in for the event will begin at 4:30pm. Bucket pick-up will begin at that time. Carrying a bucket is not required to participate in the walk. The walk will begin at 5:30pm at the Southeast Shelter located in Lafortune Park.
This is NOT a timed event. It will be fun, hot, and exhausting, but most important, life changing. Come Walk for Water with us and give others clean water. The purpose of this walk is to raise awareness for the need of clean water and to provide clean water wells in Ghana.
Pre-register price for an individual walker is $15.00. To sign up the day of the walk at the park is $20.00. Pre-registering is the only way to guarantee that you will receive a bucket if you wish to walk with a bucket.
Proceeds will help provide wells for The Touch A Life Care Center and also other surrounding communities.
