Are You Ready to DO SOMETHING?
Let's make a change and do something together! On Saturday, August 16, 2014, come join us as we walk LaFortune Park Trail, and change the lives of others. Are you strong enough to walk the entire 5K with a bucket full of water? People do it every day all over the world. Come and see if you have what it takes to walk a mile in their shoes.
After a trip to Ghana in 2012, a passion was sparked in three kids to make a difference in the country that burned a lasting impression upon their hearts. Last year, people came together and helped them begin making that difference by walking. To check out our 2013 Walk For Water event and see how it all began, go to www.preciouschildfoundation.org.
Check-in for this year's event will begin at 4:30pm. Bucket pick-up will also begin at that time. Carrying a bucket is not required to participate in the walk. The walk will begin at 5:30pm at the Southwest Shelter location in LaFortune Park.
This is NOT a timed event. It will be fun, hot, and exhausting, but most important, life changing. Come Walk For Water with us, and give others the gift of clean water. The purpose of this walk is to raise awareness of the need for clean water in Ghana. Proceeds from the walk provide clean water wells through our partnership with Wells for Ghana. The total cost of each clean water well through Wells for Ghana is $3,500. Each clean water well provides clean water for 500 people.
Please contact us for individual or company sponsorship information. All sponsorship packages include special benefits. Please see our email information below the Q and A section to get benefit details.
Q and A:
Q: What should I bring?
A: Yourself, walking shoes, and a positive attitude. We will provide the bucket.
Q: What time should I arrive?
A: Check-in will begin at 4:30pm. This will ensure we can start on schedule and gives everyone time to receive their bucket and sign their release form.
Q: May I make an on-line donation and not walk?
A: YES! All donations are appreciated.
Q: Do I have to pre-register?
A: You do not have to pre-register, but all walk-up registrations are $20 (versus the $15 at pre-registration). All walk-up registrations must also sign a release form.
Q: May I sign up to walk or be an event sponsor and pay by check or money order?
A: Yes. If you prefer to pay by a method other than a credit card, please e-mail us at email@example.com.
Q: Do I have to live in your area to make a donation?
A: No. Anyone can make a donation; simply choose the option for making a one-time on-line donation.
Q: Do I have to walk with a bucket?
A: No. You are not required to walk with a bucket. It is an option you can select when purchasing your ticket.

A: No. While we know that unexpected things happen, no refunds will be issued in the event of an absence. We thank you in advance for your understanding and appreciate your donation.
Q: Are my kids able to walk?
A: Yes. Children are welcome, but they will not receive a bucket unless they are registered and show as paid for the walk.

A: As many as we can with the funds that are raised. Our goal for this year's Walk For Water event is to raise $10,500. This will provide three clean water wells through Wells For Ghana.

A: All money raised will be used to provide clean water wells in additional communities. With your help, our goal is to provide as many as possible.
