Join Casey Trees, Rock Creek Conservancy, and the Friends of Peirce Mill as we plant nearly 70 trees in Rock Creek Park! In addition to shade trees near Peirce Mill, trees will be planted to create a demonstration project for educational programs that focus on the role of apple husbandry in American history. On the other side of the street, we will add trees and shrubs to restore a riparian area (the interface between land and the creek) and enhance the wildlife habitat.
Head to the address given (note: this is not a physical address but is designed to be entered into a GPS or search engine) and turn into the parking lot. Registration will be located in Picnic Area 1 on the other side of the lot.
Public Transportation: The Van Ness/UDC Metro Station (Red Line) is a 0.8 mile walk. The closest bus stop serves Metrobus lines H2, L1, and L2 and is a 0.6 mile walk.
Parking: Arrive early is you want a space in the parking lot near the picnic area; otherwise, there is ample street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Volunteers are welcomed in the morning with a light breakfast. A celebratory lunch is provided at the conclusion of the event. Casey Trees will supply drinking water throughout the event.
