Volunteer for the Online World Savvy Challenge 2013!
Friday, March 1, 2013 at 8:00 AM - Sunday, March 31, 2013 at 11:50 PM (PST)
This year thousands of students from across the country have been researching this year's
theme, "Sustainable Communities". In World Savvy's first ever online Challenge, students will develop
websites and documentaries representing their research and solutions to issues related to sustainability.
Support their efforts by volunteering your time as a judge to ensure that we have a successful event:
- Judges are needed to evaluate student websites and documentaries. In addition to viewing presentations and filling out a detailed grading rubric, judges engage in a brief Q&A with students. Judges will also monitor an online action roundtable with students, where they will discuss Anyone 21 years old or older with a passion for education and an interest in global issues is encouraged to participate as a judge!
- A brief online orientation session is required for judges.
- Online judging will require a commitment of approximately 8 hours over the period from March 1-31st. Note: Most judging can be done on your own schedule, however we will be in touch once you register to identify times when you will be available for a live online Q&A with students.
It is truly inspiring to see how young people are thinking about these important issues. We hope you
will help support this effort as we expand the reach of this program to serve more students online.
The online Orientation Webinar will be held on February 27th at 5pm PST. Information on how to register will be coming soon!
Please note that committed volunteers are critically important to making the Challenge. Each volunteer
has a personalized schedule. As such, we ask for a 2 week cancellation notice if you are no longer able
to volunteer. Of course, we understand that emergencies arise, but we appreciate your cooperation in
helping us to ensure that the day is adequately staffed with volunteers. Thank you.
