Volunteer for Tactical Urbanism Intervention
Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 8:00 AM (EDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Beginning at 8:00 am on June 22, Mike Lydon of Street Plans Collaborative, the Urban Design Studio, Vision Louisville, and collaborating organizations will work with volunteers utilizing to transform the 800 Block of East Market Street. Using the conceptual plans from the recent East Downtown Connectivity Study as a baseline, volunteers will employ Tactical Urbanism techniques to help the community visualize the potential of the street.
This is an exciting approach to show proof-of-concept for this section of East Market in NuLu. Volunteers are encouraged to take this opportunity to not only participate in the activities on East Market, but to think about how these actions could be used in other parts of the city to promote long-term change through short-term pilot projects and actions. The hope is that this event will serve as a model for the entire community to collectively begin to reimagine our city and creatively utilize Tactical Urbanism tools to catalyze change.
The Tactical Urbanism Salon will follow the streetscape intervention at the Green Building at 11:00 am. If you are interested in participating in the salon, please follow this link to learn more and reserve your seat for the free event.
