Voicing My Strength: Survivor Resiliency and Speaker Workshop
Monday, April 1, 2013 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM (EDT)
Register Today! Join us April 1st, 2013 at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM for Voicing My Strength: Survivors’ Resiliency and Speakers Workshop. This evening will be dedicated to the process of expressing journeys of strength, transformation and celebrating resiliency.
In preparation for Take Back the Night, Voicing My Strength: Part Two Resiliency is an interactive workshop developed for sexual violence survivors by survivors to assist in the expression of the journey through recovery to loved ones, friends and techniques about how to speak in public forums. This is an interactive workshop and should not be considered counseling or therapy. There will be advocates and counselors present during the workshop to assist anyone with their process.
In a supportive environment we will discuss positive coping techniques and how to handle triggers through methods of self-care. The workshop will include the following interactive sessions:
- Sharing Hope Speak-Out - Learn the mechanics of communicating your journey such as when to share, how to express, how to handle different audiences and how to use facts. Discover empowerment by honoring your truth and being authentic.
- Referring Survivors - Learn what to do when someone discloses their experience with you and how to refer them to services while maintaining boundaries. Develop your referral toolbox and learn important skills about how to help others get the help they need while honoring your experience.
If you are considering speaking during the Survivor Sharing Hope Speak-Out at Take Back the Night in April, this workshop will be very beneficial.
The workshop will be closed after the first 30 to register. Depending on the response, we will schedule an additional workshop.
Registration will remain confidential.
*You are not required to be a member of the Speaker's Bureau to participate in this training.
