Artists' Tribute to Italian Americans in Baseball

Convivio will unveil its long-awaited celebration of local history, culture, and baseball in a special VIP sneak preview media event and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, September 21, beginning at 9 pm at the Convivio Center.

Paying tribute to baseball players of Italian descent and those with strong ties to San Diego, Convivio has invited San Diego County Supervisor Ron Roberts as well as current and former MLB players including Tommy Lasorda, Nick Punto, Drew Butera, Chris Denorfia, Mark Loretta, and John D’Acquisto as guests of honor in a special evening featuring live performances from Italian TV Zecchino d’Oro award-winning vocalist Isabella Shiff (from San Diego) and Meatballs of Comedy (from Los Angeles). In addition, renowned sports artists Chris Felix (from Cincinnati) and Jeremy Nash (from Mendocino) have been invited to the event to answer questions from the media about their lifelong dedication to the game of baseball. Invited members of the media and VIPs will have the opportunity to be the first to experience this comprehensive exhibition of Italian American baseball history. The exhibition showcases original artwork, photographs, articles, uniforms, and other autographed one-of-a-kind artifacts.

Refreshments will be served.
