VIP Event for Museum and Library Professionals at the AARLCC

Library, museum, conservation and archival professionals are invited to network with national experts in a program hosted by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture to be held at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center in Fort Lauderdale. This exclusive event is scheduled for Sunday, January 12, 2013 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Please join us for a morning of informal conversation about topics and trends in the field.
This is an opportunity for discussion and there will be no review of historical items by the Save Our African American Treasures team at this time. However, during the public hours of this event, on Saturday, January 11 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday, January 12 from 12 noon to 5:30 p.m., items may be brought in for review.

Experts in various fields of archival preservation will meet with the public to review objects such as books, photographs, ceramics, metalwork and textiles and advise them of their historical importance and how best to preserve them.
