San Francisco, CA
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Fundación Agaves Silvestres is a non profit organization, created by the partners who bring us the amazing Wahaka Mezcal, who's primary dedication is to the reforestation of the wild agave used to create traditional agave spirits. In order to fund their projects, Wahaka is selling limited editions of vinos de mezcal from tiny producers all over Mexico and we were fortunate to get our hands on some! Join us as we break them open for the first time and taste these outsanding artisanal products. Erick “Almamezcalera” Rodriguez, the lucky man who travels to the remote locations and chooses each mezcal for bottling, will be flying all the way in from Mexico City, to be our host for the evening. These batches are extremely limited, so lets enjoy them while we can! Chef Juan Martinez will create special small bites paired to each vino de mezcal. Tickets are $125 per guest which already includes tax and gratuity.
Erick “Almamezcalera” Rodriguez
Erick is the founder and owner of Almamezcalera, a brand of ultra small-batch mezcales from all around Mexico including states outside of the Denomination of Origin. He also runs Mezcatour, a business giving tours to remote palenques of small maestro mezcalilleros. Erick was born in Mexico City in 1976 but spent a number of years in San Francisco, CA developing his bartending and gastronomic skills. He worked in a number of restaurants and bars in town including Jardiniere and La Mar and was named brand ambassador for premium tequilas promoting their product in the Bay Area. Upon his return to Mexico City in 2009, he worked as head mixologist at Corazon de Maguey (previously known as Oh Mayahuel). He then partnered to open Mezcaleria La Vulgar, one of the most popular mezcalerias in Mexico City that boasts a menu of mezcales made from over 100 varieties of agave from across Mexico. In 2012, he ventured out on his own with his two new projects – Almamezcalera and Mezcatour.
