Dear Friends!
Join us as we embark on Part II of the Viennese Romance - the flowering of the deeply personal and intimate German art song tradition known as Lieder. Featuring lush melodies, breathtaking harmonies, stirring lyrics, and humorous character pieces, our musical journey takes us from the beginning of the Lied genre in the 18th century with Mozart's poignant romances continuing through the 19th century with the gorgeous gems by Schubert and Brahms, and culminating with the rapturous romances by Robert and Clara Schumann - one of the most amorous and celebrated musical couples of all time. Each of these composers had lived in, or was inspired by, Vienna at some point in his / her life. Central to the development of the Western classical music tradition, Vienna has been the hotbed to the music and musicians that have left their indelible mark on this intimate art form for all future generations. Don't miss this special Viennese Romance II salon, showcasing some of the most beautiful songs ever composed by the greatest exponents of this treasured art song tradition!!!
