Event Details

Five United States veterans from Operation Free will be in Harrisonburg Friday, December 11, from 4-5:30pm at the Blue Nile Restaurant to share information related to their mission:

Secure America With Clean Energy.

The following veterans will give a presentation, following by question and answers with the audience.

  • Matt Victoriano - US Marine, Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran
  • Ed May - US Army, Vietnam veteran
  • Glenn Kunkel - US Marine Sargent and two time Iraq vet
  • Mark Starr - US Army Sargent and Iraq veteran
  • Chuck Tyler - US Army combat veteran, grew up in Charlottesville

According to the Operation Free website, their core motivational principles are as follows:

  • We need to get America running on clean energy.
  • Clean energy reduces our dependence on oil.
  • Oil ties our hands in foreign policy, funds terrorists, and entangles America with hostile regimes.
  • Our Federal government is considering legislation that promotes clean energy incentives, and people need to understand why this helps our security.
  • Getting energy that is CLEAN, DOMESTIC, CHEAP, and SAFE is going to take some real work, so we need to start now.
  • It’s our patriotic duty to do everything we can to keep our nation safe and secure: clean energy is one of those efforts

The Community Mediation Center is coordinating this discussion to promote public dialogue, and does not advocate for the positions of the presenters.
