Event Details

Cornerstone Hospice is currently seeking military veterans who would like to volunteer to help other vets with their end-of-life care, recognizing that veterans have the unique shared experience and understanding of what other veterans went through.  On Saturday, August 9, 2014, Cornerstone will offer a concentrated volunteer training class for new veteran volunteers in Orlando.   The 8 hour training will offer a comprehensive orientation to Cornerstone Hospice and our specialized Cornerstone SALUTES! volunteer role. Lunch and materials will be provided.  For more information on the training or to receive a volunteer application, please call 407-206-2273 X2604.

We are a community-based, not-for profit provider of end-of-life and palliative care support services for people with life-limiting illness.  At Cornerstone Hospice, we concentrate on meeting the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and their caregivers.  Hospice care allows many patients to remain comfortable in their own environment surrounded by friends and family.  Loved ones share in patient care under the guidance of the Hospice team of professionals, ensuring a fulfilling alternative to institutional health care.  Hospice supports the natural progression of life and refrains from interventions that would hasten the progression toward the end of life.  Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care, formerly Hospice of Lake and Sumter, was founded in 1984 to serve patients and families seeking quality and dignity in their lives while coping with an end-of-life illness. We serve Lake, Sumter, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Hardee and Highlands counties in Central Florida and are licensed by the State of Florida and certified by Medicare and Medicaid
