Do you operate a compost facility or are planning on working at one in the future? The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Compost Operator Certification Course is a required Certificate Course for current or future compost site operators who must obtain solid waste approval for handling food scraps or animal mortalities. Participants will have the opportunity to gain a Compost Operator Certificate recognized by the State of VT Agency of Natural Resources for Small, Medium and Large composting facilities.
This daylong workshop is focused on operator competency in compost management and regulatory compliance, and includes a dynamic combination of lectures, demonstrations and hands-on exercises designed to ensure an effective combination of operator understanding and application.

- Compost recipe development
- Materials & blending
- Windrow construction
- Pile monitoring and management
- Windrow aeration
- Aerated static pile composting
- Mortality composting
- Storm water and leachate management
- Neighbor relations
- Site and operating permit requirements
- Testing and reporting requirements

When: Thursday, September 19th, 2013 – Registration begins 7:30am - Workshop 8:00am-4:30pm (Please bring a bag lunch)
Where: Highfields Center for Composting Research and Education site @ Quarry Rd/Fisher Bridge Industrial Park, Wolcott,VT
