This workshop will help you be more effective at communicating and collaborating with customers and other team members.
A prototype is more then just a proof of concept, it's a starting point for further investigation. Unlike a beta version of a product, it makes no assumptions of being correct, only a hypothesis of what could be. Prototyping is an essential skill for discovering what customers value most and what behaviors they're most likely adopt when they interact with your product or service.
What you will learn
- How prototyping creates more accountability with the design process
- The difference between prototyping a thing and prototyping as collaboration
- The different styles of prototyping and when to use them effectively
- How prototyping helps manage the emotional roller coaster of design and development
After this workshop you will have the following:
- An understanding of how to validate assumptions and make faster, informed decisions
- A method for creating quick and inexpensive experiments
- An understanding of when it's time to prototype and how to choose the most effective technique
Who should attend
Anyone responsible for the revenue performance of a product or service. This includes decision-makers and other senior staff who define and execute strategies within their organization. Some of the previous attendees were:

- Marketing professionals redesigning an existing product or service
When you share concepts verbally, you're passing ideas back and forth without any concrete representations. So how do you know if the vision in your head matches that of the other person? You don't unless you actually show them something. A prototype creates a shared space where conversations become more productive. It enables people to say, "this", not "that" is what I am talking about.

About the Instructor
Brian Maggi is the Principal and founder of Idea Momentum. He leads several of the workshops and assists with the development of curriculum and content. He is recognized as an expert in User-Centered Design and Product Development with over 20 years of industry experience.
All workshops are held in our comfortable and conveniently located Chicago office. Workshops begin at 9:30, but plan on arriving by 9:15 in order to check in, grab some coffee and get situated. We will take a short break for lunch which we will provide. The day will end between 4:30 and 5:00.
