Using the iPad as a Tool for Student-Created Projects (Grades K-12)

With features such built-in cameras and a microphone, and the availability of creative apps, iPads provide nearly endless possibilities for users to save and share multimedia products. Whether it is to act in Reader’s Theater, record scientific observations or create a digital documentary, students have exciting opportunities to demonstrate learning using iPad technology. Come and see examples of curriculum-based projects that incorporate screencasting, video production, digital books, and more! Ample time will be provided for hands-on guided practice and idea-sharing. Educators will leave this session with app recommendations and ready-to-use ideas to implement in the classroom, regardless if there is only one iPad available or a 1-to-1 class set.

Kristine Scharaldi is an experienced teacher and outstanding staff developer in the area of technology integration in K-12 classrooms, who is back to Kean by popular demand.

Kristine’s workshops will be held from 8:30-2:00 in Hutchinson Hall Room 307-308 at the Kean University, Union Campus. A continental breakfast will be served and participants may bring a brown bag lunch.

We strongly encourage registrants to “bring your own device” (BYOD), but some iPads are available, if needed. Note that workshop sessions are limited to 20-25 registrants to allow for ongoing interactive hands-on experiences.
