User Experience, Information Architecture and Usability Basics

This class will provide students with a brief introduction to the basics of Information Architecture, User Experience Design and Usability that can be used in pursuit of business objectives. User experience design is not only a characteristic of all good digital products, it's also a powerful way to differentiate and beat your competition. In this overview class, we'll look at how User Experience and two key components of UX, Information Architecture and Usability, can be used to help you meet your business goals and make your projects more successful. Topics covered will include: requirements gathering, user-testing, UX process methodology, and key activities and documentation.
About the Instructor:
Brendan Bolton-Klinger is currently an Experience Lead at Huge Inc. He specializes in the design of digital experiences, ranging from of mobile applications, to large transactional and content sites. In his role at Huge, Brendan has collaborated on the Reuters iPad application as well as its mobile platform and has delivered new communication platforms for clients like Samsung, Comcast, FX Networks, JetBlue, Saab and C Spire Wireless. Prior to joining Huge, Brendan was a Senior Information Architect at EuroRSCG, owning the Volvo, Advair and Claritin accounts. He earned a B.A. from Wesleyan University, and has taught classes at Pratt University, School of Visual Arts (where he earned an MFA), and UCLA.
