Slow Money SoCal Special Event: USDA MicroLoan Presentation

For new or small-scale Farmers and Ranchers in Southern California - including LA, Ventura, Orange, San Diego Counties and the Inland Empire:

Val Dolcini, Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency in California will present a new lending resource providing up to $35,000 with a current interest rate of $1.375%.  Val will also take questions or feedback on other USDA programs.  

USDA unveiled a new micro-lending tool in January with smaller-scale, organic and beginning farmers and ranchers in mind...USDA's newest credit program will continue to play an important role in better serving the unique financial needs of farmers who are just beginning, farmer's market vendors, CSA businesses and those who simply farm on a smaller scale.  Microloans can be used for almost any operating expense a farmer can incur.  USDA Farm Service Agency can help fund initial start-up costs, annual expenses, livestock and equipment purchases, irrigation supplies and much more.
  • Maximum loan amount of $35,000
  • Funds for any operating expense
  • A low interest rate, currently at 1.375%
  • An application that's citizen-friendly, reduced to 7 pages from 30
  • Some experience required and allows credit for farm internships, small business experience, specialized education or a guided apprenticeship.
