Why Register for the Waitlist?
Those individuals on the waitlist will have the first opportunity to grab a spot in the camp if there are any cancellations. In addition, individuals on the waitlist will get infomation sooner and have the ability to sign up for the 2014 URecFit Kids Camp before anyone who is not on the waitlist.
What is URecFit Kids Camp?
The University of Maryland URecFit Kids Camp is a 3-day long day camp from Tuesday, July 9 - Thursday, July 11. The Camp is designed for children ages 5 to 12 years old and focuses on recreation, safety and wellness education.
To help shape active, safe and healthy youth.
To provide the University of Maryland Community with an exceptional children's program designed to promote healthy and safe decision making through dynamic educational sessions focused on recreation, safety and wellness.
Camp Dates & Times
Tuesday, July 9 - Thursday, July 11
Camp Time: 8:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Drop off : 7:45 - 8:45 a.m. on SMC Campus Center 3rd floor
Pickup: 4:30 p.m. on SMC Campus Center 3rd floor
Lunch: Noon - 12:45 p.m. in SMC Campus Center room 349
Closing Ceremony and Certificate Presentation: 4:00 p.m. on July 11, SMC Campus Center room 349
Kids Camp Participants
Eligible participants: Children related to University of Maryland students, faculty and staff. Children must be between ages 5 - 12 on July 9, 2013.
- $ 30 - per child between the ages 5 and 12.
The classes are assembled on the 3rd floor of the SMC Campus Center located at 621 W. Lombard Street next to the School of Nursing. The training classes will take place in the Pratt Gymnasium and the SMC Campus Center. The Pratt Gymnasium is accessed from the 5th floor of URecFit in the SMC Campus Center.
It is required that one guardian for each child attend one of the orientation sessions. The orientation is required to review course material with the guardians of the participating children and review expectations of the parents and children. Four sessions will be held between Monday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 2. Parents/Guardians are only required to attend one of the four sessions. The sessions will be held in room 351 in the SMC Campus Center and the parent/guardian can attend either the noon to 1 p.m. or 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. session.
All participants will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and information manuals throughout the camp.
Parents of participants will receive an information packet at the parental orientation.
An information packet including waivers, emergency contact information and medical questionnaire will be emailed following registration. All forms need to be filled out and returned at the parental orientation. If forms are not filled out, the children will not be able to participate in the camp.

All participants who finish the course will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Helpful Information for Participants
- Participants must be prepared to participate in a number of activities including exercising, walking and physical activity.
- Sneakers suggested - No open toed shoes allowed.
- Participants wail be expected to wear camp t-shirt each day that will be provided at parental orientation.
Food and Drink
- Lunch and snacks will be provided for campers all three days. Parents and guardians may come with their own lunch and eat lunch at the designated time with the campers. Please notify staff of any special dietary concerns.
- Please encourage campers to stay hydrated throughout the day. Water filling stations will be provided to fill up water bottles throughout all three days of the camp.
