San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The purpose of this forum is to educate the various service sectors (public agencies, private business, and non-profit) on what is being done at the local and state levels to address the current drought emergency and plan ahead for potentially worsening conditions. This forum will provide information on drought conditions, forecasts, and response strategies; as well as bring together stakeholders from the public and private sectors to understand the extent of recent and future drought impacts; to discuss drought information uses and needs for decision-making; and to learn from efforts underway to strengthen long-term preparedness and resilience. By bringing together a range of stakeholders, we hope to promote discussion that will result in recommendations to further improve the state’s drought readiness. Participants will take away actionable information to help them through the current and future droughts.
- Provide information on current and forecasted drought conditions. Discuss what this means in the context of an urban area like Southern California as opposed to the more agricultural northern part of the state
- Explore key elements of drought planning and response, and develop recommendations for building on existing private, local, and state drought monitoring and forecasting.
- Identify the partnerships and support, ongoing and needed, to ensure coordination and integration across public and private sectors for improving drought preparedness and response.
This event is free of charge and open to non-profit and business organizations.
