TSQL window functions, originally introduced in SQL Server 2005, have proven to be quite useful to solve complex ranking and aggregation scenarios. The new additions in SQL Server 2012 open a new window of opportunities to upgrade your TSQL skills and take them to the NEXT level. In this session, we will discuss how to write high-performing and effective queries this functions using real-world examples.

Jose L, Business Analytics Manager at Abarca Health and Online Faculty at University of Phoenix, has over 9 years of experience developing Business Intelligence solutions using SQL Server technologies, among others. In addition, he shares his knowledge and perspectives as a PRPASS Community Leader, college professor and Co-Leader for the Azure and Global Spanish virtual chapters. He holds the MCTIP in Database Administration, Database Development and Business Intelligence for SQL Server 2008.

 

Introduction to Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) – Part 2

Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) is a formula expression language used to define calculations in PowerPivot for Excel workbooks and Analysis Services tabular model projects authored in SQL Server Data Tools. DAX enable the creation of powerful calculations to enrich your analytic models. Join this session to learn the basics of DAX and star your road to mastering PowerPivot and Analysis Services Tabular. This session is the continuation (second part) of the October session.

Mr. Koo is a thought leader who enjoys sharing his experiences through his blog (www.alankoo.com) and presenting in different events for universities, user groups and different associations such as IIBA, SQL PASS Latam, TechNet, and MSDN.
