Digital Communications Manager, Devon County Council
Carl leads the Digital Communications Team at Devon County Council where he champions and develops the digital agenda within the council as well as oversees the council’s corporate web presence and intranet. With over 17 years experience working in Local Government, Carl has spent the last decade honing in on ICT, Communications, Web and Social Media. He has a varied background working on Local Government issues such as Strategic ICT, Communications and Marketing, Sustainable Development, Community Engagement, Tourism and Economic Development. Carl also serves as Chair of LocalGov Digital—a practitioner network created under the fundamental principle that local government should be ‘open by default and digital by design’.
Communications Manager, Southampton City Council
Rosanna started her career 13 years ago working on pan-European accounts such as DHL Western Europe at global advertising agencies including McCann Erickson and Ogilvy Group. Three years ago she moved out of London and home to Hampshire, to take on the role of Marketing Manager at Southampton City Council. Her role encompassed design, advertising, sponsorship, internal communications and marketing. She has recently been promoted to Communications Manager and now also manages media relations, events, customer insight, and digital communications (excluding the website). Her overarching objectives include enhancing the council’s profile and reputation, putting the customer at the centre of all communications, supporting the ongoing sustainability of the council and providing evidence based communications.
Product Manager, GOV.UK, Inside Government
Neil currently manages the product build-out of GOV.UK, designed to incorporate hundreds of government websites into a single source of government information. Neil is passionate about using digital products to change things for the better. Prior to working for Government Digital Service, Neil held multiple posts at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. With more than a decade of experience working within Central Government, Neil is focused on using digital technology to revolutinise how citizens interact with government.
Senior SME Education Strategy Analyst, HM Revenue & Customs
Oliver joined HMRC Business Customer and Strategy in April 2013, taking up the responsibility of setting the strategic direction of SME Education. He works to align the SME Education activity to the wider Government digital agenda, while assessing SME Education performance in achieving customer, business and revenue benefits. Oliver started his career as an analyst programmer developing data management and reporting tools for global performance monitoring systems at HSBC and then later the Royal Bank of Scotland. He then entered the world of law enforcement with the Metropolitan police as an Intelligence Analyst before joining HMRC (then HMCE) in the same role but with a national remit. During 8 years as an Intelligence Analyst within HMRC he supported the development of organised crime strategy, particularly concerning identity fraud and cybercrime, influencing the development of HMRC online services. Oliver has a BA (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems from Brighton University.
Senior SME Education Strategy Analyst, HM Revenue & Customs
Mike works with education policy for HMRC. He is currently focusing on making improvements to the help provided for business customers commissioning a wide range of research, online learning, a new webinar system, YouTube, Twitter offerings and the new outbound email service. Mike helps to evolve policy on how to get the best results with the digital methods of help available. Mike joined HMRC right out of school and has worked in a wide range of capacities in his tenure at HMRC including individual and company investigation, tax technical management and now education policy.
e-Marketing and Online Evaluation Manager, Health and Safety Executive
As the e-Marketing and Online Evaluation Manager with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Gavin launched and manages a growing government email marketing service. Gavin has over a decade of experience as a digital communicator for the HSE. Over the last five years, he has run the HSE’s digital marketing channels, including email newsletters, RSS Feeds, search and more recently LinkedIn.
