See the "Real" Florida!
Join us for this 2nd event in a series of hikes in recreational areas in Sumter County sponsored by UF/IFAS Sumter County Master Gardeners and led by UF/IFAS Extension Agent, Jim Davis. You'll be learning about Florida's natural resources including native plants, invasive plants, insects, wildlife, etc. as well as enjoying the great weather and scenery.
This month we have tentatively scheduled Baird Unit Richloam which is located just south of the Extension Office in Bushnell. There is a lake, oak hammocks, pines area and a swamp so it is going to be an outstanding hike with plenty of animal tracks to see and maybe we will be fortunate enough to see some of the wildlife.
This is going to be a hike of the “Real” Florida so dress appropriately, no open-toe shoes, bring sunscreen, insect repellant, and binoculars. Bring your camera so you can “shoot” any wildlife we may encounter. Those of you who attended our 1st hike, please bring the animal tracks card we gave you; if you haven’t attended a hike yet, we’ll have a card for you.
We ask that you all meet at our office (map and address posted on Eventbrite) at 8:45 for check in, facilities stop (there are no public restrooms at Baird Unit) and then we will drive to the hiking area which is only about 10 minutes away. Carpooling is recommended. Bring your lunch and beverages in a cooler and following the hike we’ll have lunch together and have a question and answer session.
This event promises to be educational and a lot of fun; we hope you will join us. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com or call 352-793-2728, Ext. 229.
