Event Details

With the launch of the new Engineering Student Start-Up Center on campus, several student entrepreneurship groups have joined forces to promote student innovation while using the new center.

Got an idea?

If you think you have a solution to a problem, no matter how large or how small, this is the event to make it happen. You will submit a description ahead of time using this form, and have the opportunity (optional, but encouraged) to pitch your idea in front of event participants.

Don't have an idea?

That's ok! Bring your entrepreneurial spirit and your thinking cap, and help turn these ideas into reality.  You just might have the skills someone else is looking to add to their team.

The Pitch

The event will begin with The Pitch, where students with an idea have the option to give a 3-minute "elevator pitch" to the audience about their idea and the kind of help they need in order to bring it to fruition.  You don't have to give a pitch if that’s not your style, but it's the best way to draw attention and support for your idea. Even if you don't pitch, all participants will receive a description of your idea within the event pamphlet. This is a great opportunity to work with educated students and develop your idea into a full-fledged solution.

 Speed Round

The second part of the event will be a mixer in "speed-dating" form. This will offer the opportunity for students to dig a little deeper into ideas that interest them most. Idea owners will host small Q&A sessions lasting just long enough to give students more information and convince them their solution is worth working on. Students will have the opportunity to participate in several sessions to ensure a deeper understanding of multiple projects.

The Mix

After several iterations of the Speed Round, participants will get back together with those individuals whose ideas appealed to them most. This is where the magic happens - how are you going to work together to make these ideas into solutions? Watch as people turn ideas into actions.
